What do you dislike about making music and what do you love about it?
There are loads of things that I love about it, the most recent thing I can think of is being surprised by the band. I had a song kicking around in my head for ages and then I took it to rehearsal and it came together better than I could’ve hoped for and right on cue without prompting. It was particularly satisfying.
Not having enough time for it. I really don’t like having a day job and I hated going to school as it was pointless bullshit and I’m not here for that. I guess more accurately I hate not being able to do music all the time that’s why I’m answering these questions at work.
What goes on in your head when you’re on stage?
Mostly I think of how I can string out an anecdote that isn’t interesting or prolong the awkwardness of a joke that isn’t funny as I know it winds everyone up which I hope distracts from our music that occurs between.
Like this one time where there were these guys that I knew from school who always went out in Loughborough [Luff-Bruh] and I was like you should go out in Leicester but we were still 17 at the time and I convinced them that we’d be fine getting in to places – which was their main concern – because I had really cool sideburns so I knew we’d be fine. Everyone was really excited to be out in the big city but as we got off the bus one of the guys I was with got pushed to the ground by someone rushing passed him who ran off into the night with his hot kebab and we realised he was being chased by a knife-wielding kebab shop worker who then thought we were with the guy that he was chasing so one of the other guys I was with shat himself. I think he’s a lawyer now.
Something awkward and long like that but more drawled out and less fluid.
What do you get most obsessive about when you’re making music?
What’s a quote that made you do something?
“What happened to you China? You used to be cool.” O.J. Simpson
What record do you think you’ve listened to the most times in your life?
David Gilmour’s “Sexy Back” feat. Snoop Lion and Snoop Doggg but I only listen to it for the production.
